Isle of Skye is a true masterpiece of nature. The landscape, the beautiful hikes and walks, the roaring waves. You could easily spend a week on this isle. One outing particularly stands out to me – Talisker Beach. After about a 20 minute walk through a pathway and past a house, you will find this quiet beach with a breathtaking view. Our goal was to be there for sunset, and it was a beautiful sunset.

Before our trip to England, a bunch of friends told me to enjoy the rain because there wouldn’t be much sunshine. I said to myself you know rain is actually better than snow. You see, this year in Canada winter decided to stick around until the latter part of April. With months of cold temperatures and snowy days, I was beginning to think of England as a tropical destination and while it might not have tropical temperatures it might be nicer than Canada was at the time. I was correct and extremely happy about it. From the time we touched down we were in short sleeves and enjoying the sunshine in the region of Cornwall.

If you are a fan of Harry Potter, this is a must see castle (featured in the first film). If you are a fan of history, this is a must see castle. If you are a fan of castles, this is definitely a must see castle. I mean really, need I say more… let me introduce you to the beautiful Alnwick Castle.

The Quiraing
I can now say that The Isle of Skye is one of the most scenic regions of the world that I’ve been to. If you love the outdoors… the Isle of Skye is a must. Mountains, greenery and rock formations galore make this region unlike any other. The one tip I’d give anyone visiting is make sure you allocate a good amount of time because there are so many hiking trails and things to do on this Island. The weather doesn’t always cooperate, so you end up doing things when you can and not when you plan to. Lesson Learned.

Brodie’s Close
While walking along the beautiful Royal Mile in Edinburgh you will notice many openings between the many stores and restaurants. It is very easy to be caught up in the action of the Royal Mile with the stunning Edinburgh Castle at the top. But, part of travelling is to explore the not so common areas of the city. Take a moment to peak or stroll down each alleyway. You never know what you will find…
On Wednesday we are embarking on a Spring adventure to the United Kingdom. We are really excited about it. We have been to London and the Cotswolds once before. But we are going to visit some of the other places that we didn’t get a chance to see the first time. As you can see by the map below…. we are starting in Cornwall, making our way up to Scotland to see Edinburgh, Fort Williams, Isle of Skye then coming back down and spending some time in the Lake District and finally hanging out in London for a bit. Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery
Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery is in northeastern Catalonia. It is one of the more scenic places I’ve been to before. I found out about this location from the travel bloggers I follow on twitter. If you happen to be in this region you have to make a stop at this Monastery. It is in the region of Cap de Creus National Park, providing lots of opportunities for other day trips as well.Below are a few pictures that illustrate the beauty of the monastery and the area. St Vitus Cathedral
Prague Castle is the Castle located on the hill. It is close to the city centre and a must visit if you are staying in Prague. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and built sometime in the 800’s. It is OLD to put it bluntly. I love all things medieval, maybe it is an appreciation for the buildings and craftsmanship of that time. The City of Bath
About 2.5 hours west of London England is a city called Bath. It is also a Unesco World Heritage Site. As with most things in England, the city is old and has lots of history behind it. The city was established to be a spa/”Bath” for the Romans many years ago. I only realized once I got there that this was how the city got its name.
