The Scenic Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular places that I’ve been to. We drove out from Vegas and it took a little over 4 hours to get there. If you are into wildlife, landscapes and natural wonders you must visit this place at least once in your lifetime.
Horseshoe Bend in Page Arizona
As part of the Colorado River tour we went around Horseshoe bend in our raft. However, you really appreciate the beauty (and the depth) of this attraction when you visit it from the top of the canyon.
It is a horseshoe shaped meander in the Colorado River. This section of the river is near the town of Page, Arizona. It is about a fifteen minute drive from town. It is a short hike over a hill and across the red rock and sand. As there is no shade it is good to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the sun is not so hot.
We made time for this stop before our Colorado river rafting tour.
Rafting down the Colorado River
One of the main reasons we came through Page, Arizona was to raft down the Colorado river. We booked our trip with Raft the Canyon. We had a great trip, our raft tour guide Rex was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, laid back and fun!
Hiking the Zion Narrows
The Narrows is one of the most popular hikes in Zion National Park. I’ve seen many videos on You Tube and I was inspired to try it out. Unlike all of the other hikes that we have done, this hike would be through the water. Unique with a strong hint of challenge…right down our alley.
The Mystique of Zion National Park
Zion National Park is a place that I have wanted to visit for a long time. I’ve seen so many pictures and read so many stories that I knew that this was a unique place that couldn’t be missed. I’m going to do another post on “The Zion Narrows”, so check back in a few days for that one.

Clayoquot Sound: A kayak trip to remember
Our kayak adventure started in the picturesque town of Tofino. The small town of Tofino is located on Vancouver Island in Clayoquot Sound. If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island, make it a priority to visit Tofino. Tofino is a must. Even more make sure you take a kayak trip. We signed up for our tour with Black Bear Kayak. Our tour guide TJ was awesome. Kayaking and hiking with him felt like hanging out with an old friend. He was also very knowledgeable about the trees and plants on our hiking trip. We highly recommend this tour.
West Coast of Ireland
Algonquin Park July 2013
The last couple annual trips were easy, canoed one way, stayed on the campsite for two days and came back the same way.
2013 = challenge
Yes, approximately 70 km of paddling over four days. This is not a trip for the faint of heart.
Canoe Lake access point, on the dock and packing the canoe.
