Whistler: Hanging in a Gondola, Hiking on the Trails

IMG_4874

Whistler, home to the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games.  A picturesque village surrounded by beautiful mountains.  Green forest, snow capped mountains (even in Summer), fresh air and blue skies.  The Peak 2 Peak experience is worth the $48.95 fee.  When you arrive at the top of the mountain there are hiking trails for all levels.  Extreme mountain biking down the mountain.  Of course, restaurants in case you feel like having a bite to eat.

We must have spent at least an hour just taking chair lifts and gondolas up, across and down the mountains.  A couple were open chairs with just a bar across your lap, a couple were fully enclosed gondolas with breathtaking views of the valley below.  If you don’t do well with heights, you may want to take the regular gondola across the valley (stay clear of the glass floor gondolas).

We highly recommend this for any traveller, and especially to anyone who loves the outdoors.  A place that is beautiful in the summer and just as beautiful in the winter (according to the images I’ve seen online).  This will be on our list to visit during a winter season.
