My Surprise Road Trip! Part Two

In British Columbia for one week and only a few days left.  The best part about a road trip is the flexibility you have with your rental car.  Our itinerary in British Columbia includes the following:

1.  Stanley Park and the City of Vancouver

2. Peak to Peak (Whistler)

3. Victoria, Vancouver Island

4. The Raptors Birds of Prey attraction in Duncan

5. Whale & Bear watching in Ucluelet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island

6. Tofino

7. North Vancouver

More details and pictures to follow about the specific areas we visited.

All I have to say is …. WOW!!!!  It truly is beautiful in British Columbia.

My Surprise Road Trip!

We are on a road trip as I write this post, planned out by Andrew as a surprise for me!  When I first saw the plane ticket to Las Vegas I was very surprised.  But there was so much more, to give you a sneak peek of what we have been doing I have listed our itinerary below:

1. Las Vegas, Nevada

2. Grand Canyon, Arizona

3. Glen Canyon Dam and the Colorado River (Page, Arizona)

4. Zion National Park (Springfield, Utah)

This concludes the road trip and the first week of our vacation.  We will be flying to British Columbia, Canada in the next couple days.  For the continued surprise adventure, stay tuned for stories of our adventures.

The Castles of the Loire Valley Region

One of the highlights of our European trip last year had to be the Loire Valley Castle Tour. I found out about it from Jeff at Eurotravelogue.com. We did the tour through Paris City Visions and it was a day well worth it.

La Ville-Lumière: Paris

La Ville-Lumière.. the City of Light

Stay at a hotel that is close to the subway or in the heart of Paris.  Our hotel was close to the Gare de Nord train/subway station.  Check your bags and hop on the subway explore.  Our first walk in the city of Paris brought us to this interesting photo opportunity…

Girona: An ancient town in Catalonia

A medieval city, Girona,  a few hours away from a popular tourist destination Barcelona.  A hidden gem in the Costa Brava region.  Colourful buildings lining the river that runs through, this is Europe.  Catalonia is made of four provinces which include Barcelona and Girona.

Allure of Costa Brava

Rent a car.

Three simple words, yet you will be thankful you followed the advice.  When you rent a car you have more flexibility, and you can drive through more of the smaller villages in the area.  It’s amazing what you can see in one day with a car.  Through the Costa Brava region, the drive was manageable up until we started going up the mountain.  The roads were slim.  Cars were speeding by because I was driving slow.  There were some parts of the mountain road that had no guard rails (why I was driving so slow).  The roads were so windy it was making me nauseous.

Cobblestone Streets of Prague

A view of the Prague Castle from the Vltava river.

A peddle boat ride along the Vltava river, fireworks in the background, a truly romantic first night in Prague.  This takes serious planning and research, or perhaps it is luck, not sure which one.

A Fairy Tale: Schloss Neuschwanstein

When you see the castle for the first time in person, you will understand the description “fairy tale”.  It truly looks like a castle out of some of the fairy tale children’s books.  Pictures online do not do it justice.
